If you are a Catholic who has been away from the Church for a while, this invitation is for you. We invite you to come home..
Many Catholics have become disenchanted with our Church, or any church. Every Catholic at one time or another can experience this. But if you have reconsidered leaving, and want to explore coming back, we will make your return very easy. If you're not sure about returning, but have lots of questions, we can answer them.
Cathoics Returning Home is a six week program. You don't have to come to every session. The sessions we offer are summarized on the following pages. All sessions are optional. Come to the ones your want.
We are here to listen to you, your gripes, your complaints, your questions. We offer answers as best we can. You are under no commitment to come back, and you will not be pressured in any way to continue.
We will tell you about Catholics Returning Home, our guidelines for participation (very basic) and ask those who wish to share their stories of how they left the Church and why they are considering returning. Some of our session leaders have also left the Church and later returned.
We pick up where we left off in Week 1. Questions unanswered in Week 1 will be answered here. We discuss concerns you have that may have caused you to stop attending church. If you missed Week 1, no problem. Come anyway!
We will discuss the spirit and intention of Vatican II and its attempt to modernize the Church. We will discuss changes to the liturgy and reception of the sacraments.
We will take you through the new Mass and answer your questions about the liturgy and the reasons it is so central to our faith.
We will give you some background on the history of the sacrament and some of the more modern ideas regarding Confession and why the Church encourages us to make frequent use of this sacrament. We will have lots of time for questions and concerns.
The Nicene Creed is the core statement of our beliefs as Christians, and Catholics. We will go over this prayer and discuss why these beliefs were considered fundamental to our Church fathers.
We can help to renew your spirit and feel the love of fellow Catholics.
Come share your concerns, problems and questions with us. We are here to listen.
We can make your path back very easy, without pressure or obligation.
